Tomorrow afternoon, Fisker Automotive will officially hand over the keys to the first production Karma to Ray Lane (sorry Leonardo DiCaprio) at Kleiner Perkins Headquarters in Menlo Park, CA. Designed by Henrik Fisker and constructed at Valmet Automotive in Finland, Fisker says the Karma is:
... the world's first extended-range electric vehicle – offering responsible luxury, incomparable performance and seating for four. Powered by twin 201-horsepower electric motors that may be augmented by an on-board engine generator, the Karma is capable of delivering over 300 miles of responsible driving – and a top speed of 125 miles per hour.
Augmented by an on-board engine generator? What does that mean, exactly?

Moving on, the Signature Series, Silver Mirage-colored Fisker Karma will be handed over to Ray Lane – chairman of the board of directors at Fisker Automotive and an advocate of advanced technology vehicles – in less than 24 hours. Of the occasion, Henrik Fisker says, "It is an exciting day for Fisker to hand over the keys of our first production vehicle and to know that our dream and Ray Lane's imagination have enabled this milestone in automotive history." What a long, strange trip it's been.
