Elon Musk Agrees To Hold Fan-Made Tesla Commercial Competition, Thanks To Student Suggestion

Thanks to the entrepreneurial spirit of a 5th grade student (and the school project that kicked the effort off), it seems that Tesla CEO Elon Musk has decided that the company will be holding a fan-made commercial contest — at the request of the student in a letter emailed to Tesla and tweeted to Elon.
The letter makes the case that, since so many fan-made Tesla commercials are of fairly high quality (and often interesting and/or funny), Tesla should honor some of them in some way. Of course, by so doing so, Tesla would also generate a bit of useful publicity.
That’s a fair point — when you have a fan community as enthusiastic as Tesla’s, why not leverage that for advertising? Why pay professionals when many fans will create high-quality ads for “free?”
In this case, though, if the letter is to be taken as a guide, the winners of the fan-made commercial contest will also get “a year of free Supercharging or a Tesla Model 3 or something.”
Given how “generous” Tesla is with the prizes given out as part of its owner referral programs, I would actually guess that the prizes given out will be considerably more substantial than the ones mentioned above. But who knows?
Here’s the tweet response from Elon Musk to the letter:

We’ll keep you posted when more is revealed. And thanks to Bria for kicking this off!
