Volta Motorbikes BCN City to debut at Milan Motorcycle Show
The Spanish electric motorcycle company Volta Motorbikes revealed its striking prototype back in May to a local audience, but now armed with a final production version of its BCN City, it's going global at the Milan Motorcycle Show (EICMA).
While there will be three separate models in the BCN line-up, they all reportedly share the same basic components and performance specs. The 35-horsepower motor should offer plenty of snap for city traffic and be good for at least 120 km/h (75 miles per hour). With range thought to be a slightly underwhelming 70 km (43.5 miles), you probably want to avoid opening up the throttle for any sustained length of time, though. Luckily, the battery charges up in a couple hours on the 220 volts available in Europe, so functionality as a city machine stays intact.
With its sexy looks and a not-unreasonable price tag of €7,000 (about $9,900 at current exchange rates), Volta Motorbikes could have a something of a hit on its hands. The company starts taking orders in a couple weeks and should start deliveries in its home market around June. We're looking forward to getting more official info and seeing the bike in action.
