GM Chooses Goodyear Fuel Max Tires For the Chevy Volt

General Motors has announced it will use the Goodyear Assurance Fuel Max tire on the Chevy Volt. We knew a low rolling resistance tire would be used in order to wring out the largest possible range for the car but did not know the manufacturer until now. Goodyear Assurance Fuel Max tires have previously been used on large trucks in order to increase fuel economies in large fleets with budgetary constraints. Now Goodyear is porting the technology to the auto sector.

The Assurance Fuel Max features a Wet Tread Zone with Dual AquaChannel Grooves. It helps evacuate water away from the treadface for great wet traction. Plus, Zig-Zagging Micro Grooves and Center Tread Notches help grip the road in rain or light snow. The Dry Zone, with strong shoulder blocks, helps enhance handling and grip on dry pavement.

No word what these tires will cost however, which will be a concern for future Volt drivers.
