The 2009 Honda Civic GX Natural Gas Vehicle

Looking for a alternate energy vehicle that you can purchase from a major automaker right now? Then look no further than the Honda Civic GX. This car runs solely on compressed natural gas (CNG) and operates exactly like any other internal combustion engine. So why bother, you ask? Lets look at some benefits:

- No more purchases from bloated Big Oil companies like Exxon Mobil.
- Utilize domestic, clean natural gas made right here in the US.
- Qualify for ultra low emissions rating benefits, which include HOV lane access.
- Have peace of mind knowing you are part of the solution and not part of the problem as concerns air pollution and supporting Middle East oil regimes.

Celebrities and others buy and drive Toyota Prius's to make a statement and yet, the Prius is still a polluting, gasoline driven, filthy automobile. Its only benefit is that is pollutes half as much as other cars. A CNG automobile runs considerably cleaner without one drop of gas.

Now, for the disadvantages of a CNG vehicle. The owner needs to install a compressor in the garage to fill up the vehicle every night and they are expensive. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 4 grand. This cost is offset by a tax rebate of about $1500. Otherwise, you need to live near a natural gas filling station, which are fairly plentiful in Southern California, but not so much elsewhere. For example, I live in central Ohio and there are only three that are anywhere near my residence.

The Honda Civic GX CNG also qualifies for a $4000 tax credit which basically pays for the premium difference between a normal Civic and the GX. I would love to have one of these fine cars.

From the Honda website:
