Hyundai’s Sonata got a new face for 2015, but the big news for both gear-heads and green-heads is under the hood. That’s where Hyundai’s new, 1.6 liter turbocharged engine lives – and (according to the EPA) it’s good for 38 miles per gallon.
For a car the size of a 2015 Hyundai Sonata, that’s a lot.
The new Sonata’s engine is only part of the car’s fuel economy equation, however. The 177 HP turbo 4 is mated to an all-new, 7-speed, dual-clutch transmission that promises to be a step or two above the unit in the Sonata Hybrid I drove last year (it would have to be).
Pricing for the new 2015 Hyundai Sonata Eco model is expected to start at just over $23,000, and includes automatic headlights, 10-way-adjustable electric driver’s seat, unique Eco stitching, 5-inch touchscreen infotainment, backup camera, and chrome interior door handles as standard equipment.
