Tesla Motors has given one of its lusted-after Model S electric sedans a military makeover that includes a camouflage vinyl wrap, louvered back windows, and its own hashtag, #teslavets. This follows a pledge by the electric automaker to hire a number of veterans to its growing ranks.
The actual work was done by SS Customs, and also features unique camo wheels, a roof rack, and yellow military-esque headlights. Tesla revealed the Veterans day tribute via its Facebook page, with this simple message; “A heartfelt Veterans Day thank you to all who have served. #TeslaVets #VeteransDay.”
Tesla launched an effort to hire military veterans earlier this year. “We want to be known throughout the veteran community as a great place to work,” said Arnnon Geshuri, Tesla’s vice president of human resources. “Veterans are a great source of talent for Tesla, and we’re going after it.”
This small effort shows Tesla’s consideration of our military veterans, though I like the suggestion on Tesla’s Facebook page that the car should be raffled off for a worthy cause like the Wounded Warrior Project. U.S. military veterans suffer from high suicide and unemployment rates, and there’s been a lot of scandal in how this country treats its veterans after they’ve come home. Tesla is joined by a number of solar power companies in making a point to hire military veterans.
Tesla is trying to do its part, which is just one more reason why people love Elon Musk’s electric automaker.
