National Drive Electric Week Revs Up

National-Drive-Electric-Week
Next Monday begins National Drive Electric Week, a chance for EV enthusiasts to give the interested a curious a chance test drive a plug-in vehicle. With the recent news thatthere are over 250,000 plug-in cars on America’s roads, National Drive Electric Week is poised to break records.
Run entirely by volunteers and organized by Plug In America, there are 115 events planned in 35 different states next week, the largest number of individual events since the program began last year. Plug-in America emphasizes putting interested parties in the driver’s seat to give them a chance to experience what it means to drive electric. Many people have an assumption that they’ll dislike the quieter, slower driving nature of many EVs, but then they hop into a Tesla Model S and get set back in their seat by all that instant torque.
While hybrid car sales have been down this year, pure electric and plug-in hybrid sales are on the rise as more consumers decide that going electric. Does National Drive Electric Week have an impact on improving plug-in car sales?
That’s debatable I suppose, but spreading the good word about plug-in vehicles can have much more profound and unmeasurable impacts on car-buying decisions. A ride in an EV today might not convince you to go out and buy a plug-in vehicle tomorrow, when it is time to buy a new car, you might give that Nissan LEAF or Chevy Volt a second look. Check out a full list of events natonwide here.
If so, what car are you hoping to get some seat time in?
