Don’t Buy It, Build It: Tiny, DIY 49 cc V8 Engine - VIDEO

49 cc v8 engine

Admit it – you’ve always wanted a V8-powered Vespa that revved its brains out with every twist of the wrist. It’s OK, we all ask God for crazy things when we’re sidelined by electrical gremlins at the NASRA meet and the Deacon Harris cracks open his pickle-jar moonshine, right? Right! That said, it looks like one of you was a good boy or girl and got your prayers answered in the affirmative, because YouTuber Keth5700 has built just the thing: a fully-functional, ultra-compact, 49 cc aluminum V8 engine that really works.
The 49 cc V8 engine itself is equipped an electric starter, several injection-molded parts (pulled from home-made molds), and an electronic fuel-injection system based on the Megasquirt-II ECU, which should have given Keth enough tuning resolution to make his Lilliputian creation at least as much drivability as all the other home-built 49 cc V8 engines out there- if not aLemonhead or a Metropolitan.
No word yet on whether the engine’s flex-fuel capable and/or capable of whirling my margaritas to 20,000 rpm.
