2016 Fiat 500 Revealed

It seems like only yesterday that Fiat was launching a reborn 500, intent on bringing it to the US market. That was, however, some five years ago, and five years is an eternity in the new car market. It should come as no surprise, then, that Fiat has been busily working on a replacement for its fuel-efficient 500- and this is it: the 2016 Fiat 500.
These drawings were first shown in the pages of the UK’s AutoExpress magazine, and claim to be spot-on representations of the upcoming 2016 model of the Fiat 500. According to the article, the car’s “cute, retro styling will be given a subtle evolution, the interior will undergo a much more dramatic transformation, with a large central touchscreen to replace buttons. To help boost the appeal of the 500 in the US … the newcomer will be wider and longer than at present, which will improve interior space and stretch the proportions for a sportier profile.”
The article also talks about the new Fiat 500′s exterior details, stating that their “inside information” indicates “larger oval headlights, framed by an LED ring, and oversized tail-lamps will emphasise the extra width, while rubbing strips give a tougher look.”

Inside, AutoExpress claims that the 500 (in its high-end versions, at any rate) will feature a high-tech interior that “takes its inspiration from the 2004 Fiat Trepiuno concept … the only buttons are for the automated manual gearbox; all others will have their functionality integrated into a large central touchscreen.” Here’s what that translates into, visually:
