Bankrupt Coda selling leftover new EVs on eBay

It remains possible to buy a brand new all-electric Coda Sedan, you just have to know where – and sometimes when – to look. Coda Automotive went bankrupt in May 2013, but we learned last Septemberthat Coda Cars had purchased the leftover stock of the company's EVs and would be selling them at "a substantial discount" through its website. That site still doesn't have any prices on it but the Coda wasoriginally priced at $44,900 and then took a steep price drop down to $37,250. Recently, Coda Cars had a Coda EV on eBay but that ended at just $14,000 - below the reserve - with 24 bids.

Coda Cars had a Coda EV end its auction on eBay for just $14,000.
Rick Curtis, a former Coda dealer who now works with Coda Cars, told AutoblogGreen that interest in his leftover Codas has been outstanding. "We put a Coda on eBay from time to time but most of the time we are selling these from our website or referrals," he said. "We have been selling complete cars, gliders and a few rollers and have even been selling components to buyers worldwide." Curtis said Coda buyers have come from Russia, India, Hungary, China and Korea, as well as throughout the United States. Last fall, Curtis told us that Coda Cars had purchased 150 Coda vehicles: 100 gliders and 50 full vehicles.

Coda Cars, made up of Club Auto Sales and Ready Remarketing, is also working on "a few other projects," Curtis said, which makes us thing about the deal he hinted at in September about new EV batteries being produced by Coda Energy some day. Who knows where the story goes from here.
