The New 2015 Toyota Camry Hits The Gym

The best-selling car in America is getting remade. The 2015 Toyota Camry debuted at the New York Auto Show today to a large crowd at the Jacob Jarvits Center.

The remodeled Camry has been stretched by 1.8 inches and widened by 0.4 because as Pontiac told us, wider is better. In an attempt to remove the memory of your mother-in-law’s Camry, Toyota has designed a car that feels “expressive and athletic.”

Changes begin in the front with a new bumper cover underlining the new wider trapezoidal grille. Newly designed headlights with integrated turning signals complete the front fascia. A variety of colors are available to match your style, including the newly added additions of Celestial Silver Metallic and Ruby Flare Pearl.

Inside the cabin, the changes seem more evident. Increased front storage showcases the Camry’s 12v and USB ports, as well as a feature yet unseen in the industry, a wireless charging system can be optioned for select smart phones. No longer must we fumble for cables while at a light. In order to keep the driver ever vigilant, a 4.2” TFT screen has been placed in the gauge cluster, eliminating the need for head turning when using the vehicle’s new amenities.

Satin chrome, genuine leather and Ultrasuede can all be optioned should you prefer the finer things in life but these are not the only materials making a difference in the comfort of the new Camry. Toyota has placed 30% more insulation beneath your feet in order to make this the “Quietest Camry Ever.”

The familiar Toyota Camry engine options remain with a 2.5 liter 4-cylinder, 3.5 liter V6 mated to a 6-speed auto, or a 2.5 liter Atkinson Cycle Engine with Hybrid Synergy mated to an E-CVT.

A new XSE model features a new mesh grille, front fascia features, 18” wheels and custom suspension components. Another new addition, the Camry Hybrid SE shows off dynamic suspension tuning and components giving a “smoother intervention and a more natural feel.

Will these changes get the Camry into the driveway of the previously unconvinced? Maybe. The sporty, more aggressive feel of the 2015 Toyota Camry is a certainly a welcome change from the bland feel of the past.
