Tesla Motors is interested in licensing its battery and other EV technologies to Toyota Motor Corp. and others, Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk told The Nikkei.
Musk also said that he expects Japan to become the company’s largest market outside of the US. Two of Tesla’s major shareholders are Toyota and Panasonic Corp. Earlier this year, Toyota invested $50 million in Tesla, and Panasonic, $30 million....Tesla has already contacted tie-up partners Toyota and Daimler AG and asked them if they are interested in licensing its technologies, Musk said. Tesla is also interested in joining hands with Toyota in the area of customer service, Musk said, adding that Tesla's cars can be serviced at Toyota facilities.
